Privacy Policy

What we collect, how we use it, and the control you have over your personal information.

Last updated: July 8, 2026

This page explains our general practices in plain language for learners in India and Canada. It is a general policy, not individual legal advice — for questions specific to your situation, reach us at support@niodbp.com.

1. Overview

Unify is an AI-assisted language exam-preparation platform operated by Nio DBP (“we”, “us”, “our”). We help learners prepare for language exams — including IELTS, CELPIP, and PTE on the English side, and TEF, TCF, and DELF on the French side — through AI practice, live classes, and human teachers.

This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website, web and mobile applications, and related services (together, the “Service”).

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account details — your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Learning activity — placement results, target exam and exam date, lessons and drills completed, mock-exam attempts, scores, and progress over time.
  • Practice content — the writing and speaking samples you submit, and the AI or teacher feedback generated in response.
  • Payment information — billing name, country, plan, and transaction records. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processors; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications — messages you send us or your teachers and coaches, and your notification and messaging preferences.
  • Technical and usage data — device type, browser, IP address, approximate region, and interaction logs used to keep the Service secure and reliable.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Service — deliver courses, generate practice, and track your progress.
  • Personalize your study plan and adapt practice to your weak areas.
  • Enable teachers and coaches to grade your work and give feedback.
  • Process payments, manage subscriptions, and send billing receipts.
  • Send service messages, reminders, and (with your consent) product updates.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Improve the Service through aggregated, de-identified analytics.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your practice submissions to train third-party foundation models.

4. AI-assisted features

Parts of the Service use AI to generate practice questions, corrections, and draft feedback. Where you see AI-generated content, it is clearly labeled as such.

  • AI suggestions are drafts. For grades that affect your readiness score, a human teacher reviews and confirms the result.
  • Your submissions may be sent to trusted AI processors under contract, solely to generate your feedback, and are not used by those providers to train their own models.
  • You can ask us how an automated feature reached a result, and request human review of any grade.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only in these limited situations:

  • Teachers and coaches within your academy, so they can teach and grade your work.
  • Service providers — hosting, payment processing, communications, and AI processing — who act on our instructions under confidentiality and data-protection terms.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
  • Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

We never sell or rent your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data storage and location

We serve learners in India and Canada, and we process data in both regions and with our service providers. Where information is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual data-protection terms, and we apply the protections described in this Policy regardless of where your data is processed.

We take reasonable steps to comply with applicable data-protection laws, including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

7. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we delete it or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see “Your rights and choices”).

8. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you can:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent to optional processing, such as marketing messages.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@niodbp.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

9. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires.

10. Children and minors

The Service is intended for adult learners and students preparing for language exams. Learners under the age of majority in their region may use the Service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality such as staying logged in.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

13. Contact and grievances

For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, contact our privacy team at privacy@niodbp.com. Learners in India may also address grievances under the DPDP Act to the same contact, marked for the attention of our Grievance Officer.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to contact the data- protection authority in your region.
